No. WebP is the bulk of the gain, it runs on your server, and it is unlimited without a key or an account. The paid key covers the one thing that costs us something: encoding AVIF for servers that cannot.
The key drops back to the free level. WebP carries on exactly as before, AVIF stops. Nothing breaks, nothing is deleted, no page changes.
Because most of the work happens once: converting the library you already have. After that it is only new uploads. The monthly allowance stays the same forever, which is what keeps the offer honest on both sides.
The allowance is attached to the key, not to a domain, so a small network of sites shares one. If you run many, write to us and we will size it properly.
